Accommodation on Cape Clear Island
General
Accommodation costs are not included in the course fee. Available accommodation options are listed below. Participants are asked to make their bookings for the observatory with BirdWatch Ireland, or with the guesthouse, B&B, Hostel, Campsite etc. directly. As the course is based near North Harbour participants should book their accommodation accordingly and are advised to book early in order to ensure accommodation. Please advise your accommodation provider of any dietary needs e.g. vegetarian, coeliac, etc. as specialist foods are not available on Cape Clear but can be ordered. For those planning to self cater the local shop provides all the daily basics and gets fresh deliveries every day but the selection available is relatively limited.
Observatory Accommodation
Cape Clear Bird Observatory is owned and managed by BirdWatch Ireland and is located in the harbour area of the harbour. It is a self catering hostel and accommodates up to seven people. Bed linen and duvets are provided. Other facilities available include a Library, Shower room and a fully fitted kitchen with tea and coffee facilities provided.
Please note: Due to the limited number of beds available it is often not possible to avoid mixed dormitories.
