Friday 5 May: Conservation of the Swift and the implications for conservation of the 2007-2011 Bird Atlas, by BirdWatch Ireland’s Brian Caffrey. Tinryland Parish Hall, 8.00pm.


Sunday 7 May: Dawn chorus walk in Clogrennan Woods, Ballinbranna, Co Carlow. Meet in entrance car park at 4.30am. Email powera2@tcd.ie for location details.


Saturday 10 June: Outing to see White-tailed Sea Eagles at either Mountshannon, Co Clare, or Portumna, Co Galway (final details to be confirmed).


Sunday 16 or 23 July: Field workshop and recording day with Dr Tomás Murray of the National Biodiversity Data Centre, starting at 10.00am with a brief talk on the butterfly and bumblebee monitoring schemes and how to identify and record these species; then leaving at 11.00am to travel to Killbrannish to carry out recording of butterflies and bumblebees. Time/venue later.


Sunday 20 August: Wildlife Walk on the River Barrow for Heritage Week. Meet beside the bridge in Graiguenamanagh at 10.30am.
