Dublin City Urban Birds Project
In 2014, BirdWatch Ireland and Dublin City Council launched the The Dublin City Birds Project, with the aim to implement many of the key measures identified in the Action Plan for Urban and Suburban Birds in Ireland 2011-2020 throughout Dublin City.
The Dublin City Birds Project initiated a series of volunteer-led monitoring projects throughout Dublin City focusing on flagship species within the city, namely Swift, Light-bellied Brent Goose, urban gulls and waterbirds.
To date there has been excellent involvement in the volunteer surveys and hundreds of important records have been compiled and mapped.
To take part in the project, simply keep an eye out for these bird species while you are out and about in the city and submit your sightings here. If you would like to learn more about the birds of the city, why not come along to one of the urban bird events taking place during the year.
