Events:

Sunday 4 November: Outing to Rosscarbery Estuary. Meet at Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery, at 10.30am for car-share to Owenahincha and walk back to Rosscarbery. Half-day with full-day option. Leader: David Rees.


Wednesday 28 November: Birds of Extremadura in Spain, by Paul Hadland and Anne Dale. The Warren Suite, Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery, 7.30pm.


Wednesday 5 December: West Cork Swift Conservation Project, by Brian Caffrey (BirdWatch Ireland). Learn about Swifts and consider taking part in the West Cork Swift Survey. The Warren Suite, Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery, 7.30pm.


Sunday 9 December: Day-trip to Tralee Bay and Castlegregory in Co Kerry with car-shares from agreed points in west Cork. Contact David Rees (treasurer@birdwatchirelandwestcork.ie) for information and booking details. Leaders: David Rees, Nicholas Mitchell.


Friday 28 December: Christmas walk in Garrettstown and Ballinspittle Woods. Meet in Templetrine Church car park at 12.00 noon for gentle stroll and possible visit to Garrettstown Marsh after. Leader: Nicholas Mitchell.


Sunday 27 January: West Cork Bird Race. Starts in Scally’s SuperValu car park, Clonakilty, 8.30am. Finishes at O’Donovan’s Hotel, Clonakilty, 6.00pm. Contact Nicholas to register your team (€5pp, includes finger food in O’Donovan’s after race).


Sunday 24 February: Visit to Bantry Bay to see gulls and divers. Meet opposite West Lodge Hotel, Bantry (on N71 south of Bantry) at 11.00am. Full-day outing. Leader Paul Connaughton.
