Saturday 2 February: Celebrate World Wetlands Day. Meet at entrance to Newpark Marsh, Lovers Lane, off Castlecomer Rd, Kilkenny, 11.00am. This eventis supported by the Heritage Office of Kilkenny County Council. The event is free. No parking available.

Saturday 23 February: Outing to East Coast Nature Reserve, Newcastle, Co Wicklow, and then to Avoca to see Red Kites. Meet at Kilkenny Castle gates at 10.00am for car-pooling, or meet at the Castle Inn, Newcastle (where you could lunch), at 12.00 noon.
Tuesday 19 March: Ireland’s wild flowers and their conservation, by author Zöe Devlin. Kilkenny Golf Club, 8.00pm. This talk will be on rare native flowers in need of protection, Kilkenny’s wild flowers, pollinators and invasive species.
Zöe won the Distinguished Recorder Award from the National Biodiversity Centre in 2016. She is a keen nature conservationist, combining her interests in botany, photography and gardening. This talk will be of interest to birdwatchers, gardeners, photographers and Tidy Towns groups.
Tuesday 30 April: Nature talk (speaker to be confirmed) in the Club House Hotel, Kilkenny, at 8.00pm. Will be followed by Kilkenny Branch AGM.
Sunday 12 May: Dawn Chorus Day walk in Jenkinstown Wood. Meet in the car park at 4.30am. All are welcome.
Thursday 23 May: Dusk chorus walk in Kilkenny Castle grounds at 7.00pm. Marking 50 years of Kilkenny Castle and 50 years of BirdWatch Ireland.
