International shorebird conference comes to County Cork this autumn!
Annual Conference of the Wader Study Group
Trabolgan, County Cork, Ireland
9th – 12th September 2016
BirdWatch Ireland will be organising the International Wader Study Group (IWSG) Conference in Ireland this autumn, from 9th to 12th September. Hosted at Trabolgan Holiday Village on the edge of Cork Harbour, this conference will bring together shorebird scientists, as well as students, amateurs, policy makers and anyone interested in shorebird science and conservation, to discuss and disseminate information and ideas. The conference is kindly sponsored by the EPA, with support from Fáilte Ireland.
The Saturday and Sunday programme comprises talks, poster sessions and an afternoon excursion. Two excursions are being organised: one led by BirdWatch Ireland's Cork Branch which will visit areas around Cork Harbour to view shorebirds, and one led by our West Cork Branch to view the birds of Courtmacsherry Bay. On Monday 12th, we are hosting a workshop on climate change/sea level rise and the potential impacts upon wading birds and their habitats.
The conference is open to members and non-members of the IWSG and all details can be found at www.waderstudygroup.org/conferences. Queries to Lesley Lewis at email@example.com.
